More and marketing leaders are understanding the importance of SEO and it is becoming more of a prominent aspect of their marketing. Properly using SEO for marketing is about knowing what people want and what they are is searching for. “it is about doing what is needed today to ensure a better tomorrow.”
On Tuesday, May 12th, I attended Conductor’s C3(Connect. Collaborate. Commit) Conference. This annual marketing event focused on SEO and content marketing. Conductor is a technology company that offers software and services to help marketers create and optimize their content. They work with companies such as AARP, John Hopkins Health Systems, Nordstrom and many more. The event featured a Keynote with the CEO and founder of Conductor and a ton of information on ways to increase business and network traffic through SEO.
CEO of Conductor Seth Besmertnik discusses using personal knowledge and experience to create content for google as we are all consumers and thinking personally can help to better be able to focus on consumer needs. He talked about how SEO can contribute to google ranking and how positions in google ranking determines if consumers will see your products. “Position on google determines if your company is a leader.”
An interesting part during the keynote is when Besmertnik spoke to Seth Stephens- Davidowitz, author of Everybody Lies: Big Data, Now Data, and Hat the Internet Can Tell Us About Who We Really Are.
“Everyone lies. People lie to people, to themselves, on surveys, and in focus groups— but people are honest in their search boxes,” says Stephens- Davidowitz.
He talked about how people’s search histories were used in helping with communica of the Coronavirus outbreak. Knowing what symptoms people were searching for allowed the communication to be targeted to those concerns.
There was a segment of Tips & Tricks presented by Stephan Bajaio and Pat Reinhardt of Conductor, where the discussed the importance of knowing your audience. Thirty seven SEO tips were offered from over 50 experts, some were members of the Conductor team and from others working in the marketing community. These tips included finding a way to engage your audience, keeping things simple, writing helpful content that is human first, and making sure that your SEO goals are tied in tightly with the overall goals of your company.
Throughout the conference it was mentioned that SEO should be done first. Knowing what consumers are looking for and basing your content off of those trends allows you to better write for and connect to consumers. SEO is the most cost effective way to create organic searching.
Another segment included two UX designers from Conductor giving an introduction and information on two new softwares that they have in efforts to further support marketers. The conference ended with the Searchie Awards, in this segment, companies that are clients of Conductor were awarded based on their use of SEO and Conductor technologies.
SEO can play an important role in growing a business. If you have good content and no one can see it, is it really good content. Creating good content with lasting capabilities is like making an investment in your company. It seems like incorporating SEO into your company and its content early can lead to great and more prompt success. Marketers should always be thinking about what they can give their audience and this is the perfect time to.
The conference was very informative but was also fun and entertaining.
